**Extra Credit**

This assignment will be counted as EXTRA CREDIT if you choose to accept =) The last day to post your response is 2-2-2011(Wednesday)
Career Goals
Upon graduating from high school, it is important for students to think about their plans for the future, whether they include additional schooling, joining the workforce, or some other activity.
Think about what you would like your career to be after you graduate from high school.  In a well-developed essay, state your career goals for the next five years and explain your plans to achieve these goals. (3 paragraphs)

As you write, remember your essay will be scored based on how well you:
  • develop a multi-paragraph response to the assigned topic that clearly communicates your controlling idea to the audience.

  • support your controlling idea with meaningful examples, reasons, and information based upon your research or readings.

  • organize your essay in a clear and logical manner, including an introduction, body, and conclusion.

  • use well-structured sentences and language that are appropriate for your audience.

  • edit your work to conform to the conventions of standard American English.

    Student Poem

One of my students from my English II class wrote a poem that they wanted me to post on the blog. Even though they are not in your class, we are still a community =) So check it out and give them feedback. Also, please feel free to send me anything that you want posted on the blog.

    “LOVE”

Even if it takes forever to see
What happiness really means to me
I understand love will always be
There except for you and me

One day you will come to know
That no matter how far you may go
The joys and sorrows that we have shared
Are just like a touch of your hair

    Yet I can only say
This love for you will never fade away
I love you every single day
    In every single way

    Pain runs through my veins
    As I have to
    See my love for you
    Just fade away. .

    Top 5 Colleges/University (Homework)

Your homework assignment due today was to list your top 5 college/university picks. These could have been schools that you are interested in going to, or just schools that you find interesting and are curious about. Since this is our SAT class, the assignment was to find out the SAT requirements or GPA requirements for the colleges/universities you chose. Keep in mind that just because you do not have these scores or the GPA does not mean you cannot apply to these schools. The scores you are about to see are just an average of what most students attending this school received. This is not to intimidate you, please keep that in mind. I just want you to start thinking about college and how important the grades you earn in high school are. There's always time to change it around :)

I only received 5!!! This was a homework assignment and will be grade as such. However, for those of you are not handing in your homework please be aware that this will lower your grade and we don’t want that to happen!
